• Post an information request to all my colleagues through email.

• Ask my Walden University classmates for assistance on their experiences with math tutorial programs.

• Meet with my district tech-coordinator when he is back in his office from summer break.

Steps Taken

• I reviewed the textbooks companion website and linked to Mrs. Linquist: The Tutor.

• I also reviewed information on a math program called accelerated math.

• I sent out an email request to colleagues at my elementary school.

Goal 2 Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership

• Choose one skill each month to share with my colleagues.

  1. There are a multitude of resources to enhance your students learning experince using technology. Some exapmles are virtual field trips, websites such as www.brainpop.com or by utilizing powerpoints instead of simply writing papers. I also think that collaborating with colleagues can not be understated. Many times the cure to many of our ailments is accross the hall!

  3. B-,
It looks like you have a great GAME plan going. I did notice that you posted about reaching out to walden colleagues about Math tutorial programs. I have one that I swiped from somewhere, and can not remember who to give credit to. It is called, http://www.mathisfun.com/. another one that I swiped from group 2 in our course, is http://coolmath-games.com/lemonade/ . And a final site that has both Math and ELA and is divided by grade level. I thought it was a great way to differentiate. The link for that site is: http://www.abcya.com/.

    Good luck!

  4. In your “Actions to Take” you mention asking your Walden University classmates for assistance on their experiences. I think this is a great action that can be put in place and could even be expanded beyond this scope. Teachers within your district, within your athletic conferences, and even professors from nearby colleges and universities could also assist in your efforts. It’s also quite possible that your initial contact may not be what you hoped for, but they may know someone who can be of assistance. Furthermore, you also begin to develop and increase your professional network. Overall, I think you have a solid setup to carrying out your game plan.

  5. Bryan,

Wow, you have clearly thought about the steps that you would like to take in reaching your goals! Nice work! You can certainly even begin, this summer by conducting your reading and research on the Web about math tutorial programs and engaging your Walden colleagues in academic conversation. Are you only interested in sharing experiences with others about math tutorials or would any content or core subject teacher be able to provide you with meaningful information about the tool? Just a thought to consider.

You also mentioned sharing one skill each month with your colleagues, once you return to school and I am wondering what this skill may pertain to. Is it the integration of the NETS-S Indicators, the use of technology, or just best practices that you have acquired along the way? I think that it is a great idea to collaborative and share with colleagues, and may even suggest that each colleague you work with on a team or department then take a turn.

    Best of luck,

    Kelly H.
